Sustainability

The conference is organized by the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Tartu, for which organizing a sustainable and environmentally friendly event is a priority. With this, we want to reflect both our values ​​and our commitment to promoting environmentally friendly solutions both in the academic environment and in society at large.

Our goal throughout the conference is to minimize the environmental impact. We do not use disposable wristbands or signboards, and name tags are made from paper and other recycled materials. Conference decorations and other necessary items are rented and invitations are sent electronically.

The conference will take place at the Park Inn Meriton Conference & Spa hotel, which has been awarded the Green Key environmental label. This is an internationally leading standard that recognizes the environmentally friendly and sustainable operations of a tourism company. The Green Key has also been awarded to the catering providing conference dinner.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own drinking water bottle and delegates will be encouraged to use unbottled drinking water at all times. Food and drinks will be served only in reusable containers. The food will be mainly plant-based with vegan dinner. The remaining food will be donated to food distribution services, which will provide it to those in need.

Before the conference, all participants will get an QR code allowing delegates to use Tallinn's public transport for free. It will also include references to transport planners.
